Step by step guide to Master's in Ireland

Thinking to Study Abroad? 

 Deciding to get an International Master’s degree is a life-changing decision. You'll get better career opportunities, cultural diversity, a wider network, and life-transforming moments by finding a Master’s degree abroad. There are a lot of complex details online on moving abroad as a student, hence I am sharing my personal experience and wondered if someone would have shared these small details I would have been able to plan my Masters’ well in time.

10-12 Months

    • Make up your mind:  Take time to decide on the right time for your Master’s degree. Start with an estimated course fee and living expense during your coursework. Financial implications are also quite important to consider.  These decisions can have lifelong impacts on your career, life decisions, relations. Carefully notice the pros and cons and reach to any academic advisor if you require any help. 
      •  Student: Plan in the last year of your current course. 
      • Working Professional: Plan when you are going to quit your current job keeping in mind the notice period in your employment contract.

8-10 Months

    • Decide your career interest: Take time to choose the right course for you, based on your background and career goals. One way to make the decision of which Masters's degree to attain is to continue specialized field from what you studied in your undergraduate. 
    • On the other hand, if you think you are more suited to a different field from what you studied in undergraduate studies. Don’t just go with what’s trending in the job market but choose something you are fascinated about.
    • Research college/universities:  Once you know what you want to study, check all the universities/ colleges offering the same Course. Check on their application fees, procedures, minimum eligibility, course fees, deadlines, and any scholarships or grants the institutions are offering. Please ensure that you have a minimum of 3 options.

6-7 Months

    • Prepare to Apply
    • Keep your Application ready and apply as soon as the application opens. Make sure you have through research on course structure on what you will study in different semesters. Prepare your application by collecting the minimum documentation required for each application.

      • Write an SOP
      • Write standardized English proficiency tests such as TOEFL or IELTS. Check the qualifying scores. Prepare for these exams within 2 months and keep some buffer time in case you must take the test again to meet the minimum score.
      • Undergraduate mark sheets for all the semesters. Attached transcript(if required).
      • Letter of Recommendation(LOR): 2 LOR from your employee or college professor. 

4–6 Months

    • Decide on your Admission: You’ll start receiving admission letters or personal interview calls from the institutions you applied to. Before giving your response think thoroughly, reach out to any alumni (for any further clarifications). Deposit the minimum admission fee and verify if any eligible institution scholarship you missed. 

3-4 Months

    • Get Ready financially

2-3 Months

    • Prepare for your visa documents. If you are reaching out to any counselor for your visa help, they will provide a complete visa checklist and if not I will drop a video soon.

1-2 Months

    • Prepare for departure: Once, visa approved book travel tickets. Get the packing done and you are ready to fly for your new life journey.
